Intercom Security systems installed in SurreyOften, when it comes to home security solutions, the simplest ideas are the most effective. What makes them so clever is the fact that they are built around residents’ needs. Two-way audio systems are one such solution. Although the idea of phoning for help in an emergency is nothing new, two-way audio systems recognise that, if a break-in or other incident were to occur, a resident may not necessarily be able to get to a phone. And, even if they could, they may not feel comfortable about speaking aloud. A two-way audio system is activated when an alarm is triggered a, and a professional at the other end responds to the situation.

How do two-way audio systems work?

Like an intercom, a two-way audio system enables communication between individuals inside and outside the house. But its role is very different to that of an intercom. Essentially, rather than helping residents see who is at their front door, it is an extension of an alarm – ensuring that authorities are alerted in an emergency, perhaps after someone has broken into the property. One half of the two-way system is located in the house, and the other is at a remote location, ready to be monitored by trained professionals, should it be activated.

If the home’s burglar alarm or panic button is triggered, the system will automatically turn on. The professional at the other end will then be able to communicate with the resident via the two-way audio system. If the resident is hurt or unable to get up, then help will be sent without them having to get to a phone. Or, if the intruder is still within the house, then this will be picked up via the audio, and the police will be notified. The system is also ideal for stopping false alarms, as the professional monitoring it will confirm the false alarm with the resident as quickly as possible so that the authorities are not called out unnecessarily.

Make two-way audio part of an integrated security system

While two-way audio systems, CCTV and burglar alarms are all important security solutions, they are perhaps most effective when used in conjunction with each other. Installing each of these within your home will help you cover all bases when it comes to deterring crime, keeping you and your family safe, and catching the intruder should a break-in occur. We have recently installed a number of security systems in Ashtead for homeowners who were concerned about increased numbers of attempted burglaries.
