Door entry systems add extra security to your home and office

Entry phones are associated with flats, or social housing developments, where getting to the front door is difficult. The caller presses the button associated with the flat or apartment, and the person inside can choose to let them in. Entry phones usually have two-way intercoms built in, so the resident can confirm the caller’s identity.

As technology has advanced, entry phones have become more sophisticated. Some now have video screens. Additionally, the humble entry phone has moved out of small flats, and is now commonly seen in houses and bungalows. Wired and wireless connections are available, with or without a home router.

So why would you upgrade your doorbell?

The Advantages of Entry Phones

Entry phones might be associated with the rich and famous, but there are plenty of reasons for UK homeowners to get them installed. On dark, cold nights, you’ll be glad you did.

Here are a few of our customers’ reasons for choosing an entry phone system:

  • Security: this is the big one for homeowners. If you spend a lot of money on fencing, railings, security lights and CCTV cameras, it makes sense to close off access to your garden to prevent any access to the house. An entry phone lets you position the doorbell on the outside of the garden wall, so people need to be explicitly allowed access onto your land. Most modern systems include high definition cameras that let you see the caller, day or night, as well as speaking to them using the intercom system
  • Energy efficiency: tired of losing heat from your home while chatting to salespeople? Simple: install an entry phone, and you won’t need to open the door to anyone unless they really need to come in
  • Smart home integration: if you already have IP cameras, you can add an IP entry phone to expand your home surveillance network. Before we order the parts, we’ll check to ensure you have a reliable wireless signal to your entrance point. If you don’t, we can use an extender or a wired connection using Cat 5 ethernet cable (or better)
  • Convenience: getting up to answer the door can be an intrusion into family life, particularly if your mobility is impaired. An entry phone makes it so much easier to answer the door, or reject unwanted visitors
  • Accessibility: tiny buttons and unclear labels are a thing of the past. Modern entry systems have bright, clear touchscreen controls, ideal for people who cannot use keypads because of mobility or visual impairments

In flats, or sheltered accommodation, we can install door entry systems with third party access. Typically, this would be used by the porter of the building. If the person in the flat has a concern, they can re-route the visitor to the reception and let the security person deal with the issue.
