The Agility 3 security system from RISCO is a modern option for homeowners and businesses. It uses cloud technology and self-monitoring to keep you safe.

Agility 3: The Basics
The Agility 3 is an intruder alarm that offers remote monitoring, smartphone compatibility and extendable sensors. In the pack, the alarm system comes with four main components, or services:
- Up to 8 wireless PIR camera detectors, calls eyeWave cameras
- A smartphone app
- A cloud service, called RISCO Cloud
- A standard alarm keypad
(In addition, there are extra, optional components, such as smoke alarms. For now, we’re just reviewing the basic pack.)
The system works by detecting intruders using the all-important eyeWave PIRs, which we expertly install around the property. Once the sensors are triggered, they alert the user, then take a series of still images. These are sent from the sensor to RISCO Cloud, then forwarded to the smartphone app; they can also be accessed via a web app, if that’s more convenient. The user reviews the pictures and tells the system whether the activity is suspicious.
The images are also sent to a remote monitoring station, and the alarm can be controlled via cloud or telephone (using a touch-tone keypad). The alarm is only raised once someone confirms that it’s not a known person.
Our Views
The eyeWave PIR sensor is a clever twist on the regular PIR. As well as detecting motion, it can also take pictures of events as they unfold, thanks to the built in camera in the PIR itself. Eight PIRs should be enough to cover an average sized family home, since they have a relatively wide angle view. The cameras also work in the dark, thanks to the infra-red light, although this would only work at relatively short distances.
Our team liked the fact that the RISCO eyeWave camera saves its photographs in the cloud. We were able to retrieve all of the shots later, even if some time had passed. This would be handy if there was an insurance claim or criminal case. Quality was not HD, but QVGA was bearable. We’d like to see the quality improved in a future version.
It’s great that the alarm can be extended with other sensors, like smoke detectors, for even more peace of mind.
Should You Buy One?
At Angel Security, we’re getting more and more enquiries about ‘smart’ alarms and cloud monitoring.
The Agility 3 is one of the more advanced systems on the market.
While there are improvements to be made in the image quality, the benefit is the combination of cameras and sensors in one. This is a much more discreet way to monitor the home when compared with CCTV, yet it also allows you to be in control of whether an emergency response is needed.
If you already have a basic alarm, the Agility 3 is the perfect upgrade. If not, you could start out with something less ambitious if your budget won’t quite strength this far.
